Mike,
I've had a similar experience. I signed up early when the market was first opened up and got all by business information set up. Then I was finally ready to submit my first app to the nook market, which is when the business info is verified. A couple weeks into it my business info disappeared, all while I was hoping to take part in their big instore promotion. I kept in touch with a developer evangelist, posted support requests, kept on it until finally it was resolved a month after I submitted it! Then it took another 4 or 5 days for the app to go live. On the support request they did admit to having issues with all the new businesses signing up. Hopefully submitting updates and newer apps will go more smoothly.

I've been impressed with the sales numbers for my mahjong solitaire app (Grandma Jong). In about a week I surpassed a years worth of sales on the Windows Phone market (though granted these are small titles with minimal marketing, but at least they're finding it on the nook market).

It was still pending yesterday, but I've stopped checking it now. They were actually very responsive to issues - in that I always got a quick response back saying "we're working on it." It just never got fixed.

The account approvals issue is definitely the main blocker, but it kept me from validating the set of issues I assumed was on the far side (lack of in-app purchases, questions about the volume of the app downloads given the position of the app store on the devices, absence of promotion options outside of B&N itself).

Is your account still pending? It sounds like that is the main problem you ran into (so far!), but I bet that one can be ironed out. I ran into a similar problem, in that my account was approved, but once my first apk was uploaded (and rejected), then I could not upload a new apk (as my account was listed as pending). But, I found that the team was pretty responsive to helpdesk submissions, and it looks like they also give pretty timely response to these types of problems via Twitter.

My impression is that that these problems in account verification (and fixing problems that come) are the growing pains of a new app store. But, I agree that they need to iron them out soon in order not to discourage developers from releasing apps there.

You are absolutely right in this, by now Android market has 250K free and paid apps but only less volume of people buy paid apps and games on Android market.

If Google announce affiliate programs, people will get more awareness about paid apps and we can see growth in paid apps.

Thanks to the wonderful art(icle).
