Hi Michael,

i came across your blog n article on google. very interesting and i agree with most of the points you made. I'm a marketing person and i believe developer programs should be run by developers, but they still need some help from folks like us...

i would really like to understand some of your views on what works and doesn't in terms of communication. Obviously there is a small element of that marketing plays in the whole mix but we also want to do the right thing .. no one enjoys their work being ignored or not working. Any sights on the right channels of communication, communication style and activites would really be great and much appreciated.

i work with many clients on developer communications and it would be really helpful to get "REAL" feedback.

thanks!

Hey Michael,

Nope, first paragraph frontways forward. You Symbian folks had a community before iPhone showed up, given. But even in that area the shakeup is happening. Take a look at Paul Beusterien's takeaways from Google I/O and tell me learnings from the newcomers aren't making the existing players shift their behavior:

http://paulbsymbian.wordpress.com/2010/05/25/google-io-a-wake-up-call-for-the-symbian-community/

I'm happy to see folks like Paul involved in the Symbian effort. Aware of what's going on in the industry as a whole and attempting to apply it to a future timeline at Symbian. Gives me some hope that perhaps we won't have a strictly two horse race of iPhone and Android in the future. Cause currently it's looking pretty bleak.
