May 2007 Silicon Valley MoMo

I just posted the meeting details for the May 2007 Silicon Valley MoMo, we’re going to be down at Nokia Research Center in Palo Alto. There should be a few devices scattered around to play with, and they’ll be showing off some of the projects they have going on. I’ve recently decided that I think I need an E90 as soon as possible. So I’m going to be following someone around and probably alternating the questions:

  • When is the E90 going to be shipping?
  • Is it going to work on US HSDPA networks?

Until the answers are “Now” and “Yes” respectively. I was lusting after the N95 for a while, but the battery life and the non-US HSDPA really became a turnoff. Plus, I have embraced the fact that I love screen size. If it means I have to carry around a larger phone, so be it, I think I’ve made my peace with that.

Mike, you and I have come to the same place with the E90. I’m talking with Nokia people at JavaOne today, so perhaps I’ll be able to extract some information.

They had a few E90s at the presentation last night. No additional info from the folks. But the units they had didn’t appear to be getting a 3g signal (or the signal indicator is different on the e90 than the e61). They are still prototype units though, so I can hope.
