WML Browser on the E61
Another tip I picked up from Russ. The E61 includes the KHTML based Nokia S60 Browser, however the new browser doesn’t support WML. There is a WML supporting browser on there however (at least in the version of the firmware I have on my device, 1.0610.04.04 19-04-06 RM-89 Nokia E61). If you go into the Media folder there’s a ‘Services’ application. It seems to be the same browser that was included in the 2nd edition devices (6600, 6680, etc), and it does support WML. The User Agent it passes is “NokiaE61-1/3.0 (1.0610.04.04) SymbianOS/9.1 Series60/3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1″. Significantly different than the agent passed by the KHTML browser: “Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413″. So there is WML support still, very cool! An important feature when you’re working for a company based majorly on WML content and need to test out pages for your users :-)
