The attachment viewing capability is by far the most useful. It really helps when one has an outdated phone with no built-in readers for Word or PDF documents.

Granted, Yahoo certainly was there first, and taken as a whole I love the Yahoo Mobile Portal. The features that Google has thrown out aren't revolutionary, just a few evolved bits. Just throwing out some ideas for the Yahoo folks to ponder. Such as permanent cookies on the portal, easy change that I think will get them a lot of benefit.

You've got to give yahoo some credit, they have had a mobile version of a large part of their portal for years. They have done some cool stuff with the mobile version of the 'my yahoo' page and their movie stuff is quite useful too.

Google has the advantage of being fresh in the market.. there's always oportunity for bringing new features in that position. It will be interesting too see what Yahoo will do 'when' they upgrade Y! mobile
